Orca Laser Safety Window Blocks
Certified Laser Safety Window Blocks for Class 3B and Class 4 lasers
Lasermet’s laser safety window blocks are passive guard designed to cover a window or enclose an area where Class 3B and Class 4 lasers are in use either to protect against accidental exposure to the laser beam or for long term blocking of laser radiation at low power densities.
Description
Lasermet’s laser blocking window provides the necessary protection against accidental exposure to laser beam and blocks laser radiation at low power densities. This is ideal for hospital and medical environments, clean rooms, laboratories and universities.
The laser safety window blocks are made from specially developed laser blocking Orca material. When irradiated with greater than 0.5 MW/m², it emits a non-hazardous smoke and may glow, indicating that a stray laser beam is present.
There are three options to attach the material to the wall:
- Velcro is attached to the material and on the wall.
- Using turn buttons, these are attached to the wall and the material is locked in position through eyelets on the edges.
- Small magnets can be sewn into the edges of the material. This only works when there is sufficient steel on the wall or frame.
PEL Ratings
Lasermet’s Orca Laser Safety Window Blocks are CE marked and certified to BS EN IEC 60825-4 Safety of Laser Products Part 4: Laser Guards.
Protection times given by the material at various power densities are shown in the specifications below.
Irradiated Area | PEL (T3) 10s | PEL (T2) 100s |
4 mm² | 3.9 MW/m² | 2.2 MW/m² |
2000 mm² | 0.62 MW/m² | 0.35 MW/m² |
