Description

Lasemet`s IS-MECH-2 is a high integrity mechanical safety interlock switch designed for position detection of sliding, hinged, or lift-off machine guards. Engineered for industrial safety applications, it provides positive opening of safety contacts in accordance with IEC60947-5-1, ensuring reliable isolation of hazardous machinery when guard positions change.

The actuator design includes a tamper resistant key that forcibly deflects the internal switch plunger when removed. This ensures forced disconnection of the safety circuit, activating within a 6mm actuator withdrawal distance. The device incorporates a built-in anti-tamper mechanism and is suitable for applications requiring up to PLe Cat. 4 functional safety, as per ISO 13849-1.

Laser Safe Interlocked Curtains

When setting up a laser-controlled area using Lasermet’s Laser Safe Interlocked Curtain, the ICS-9 Interlock® Controller will only activate the laser under specific safe conditions.

One of these conditions is that the Interlock Switch must detect the Interlock Switch pin (curtain closed), activating both channels and sending a message to the Interlock Control System (ICS-9 Interlock® Controller) to enable the laser, which will then display “Danger Laser On” on the nearby LED sign.


The Interlock Control System will not activate the laser if the Interlock Switch Pin is not attached to the Interlock Switch, at which point the LED sign will display “No Hazard Laser Off”.
