Description
To protect personnel from Class 4 and Class 3B lasers it is imperative to have comprehensive laser safety protection in place. Laser radiation must be prevented from escaping from labs and manufacturing facilities using certified equipment.
Facilities using Class 1 lasers which are Class 4 under service conditions may require free-standing screens to allow other work to continue safely in the same room during service. Also, where a production line uses a Class 4 laser for cutting and welding, it is impractical for the whole facility to observe Class 4 safety regulations. However, using complete enclosures can transform the laser facility into a Class 1 system.
Lasermet provide a range of free-standing laser-blocking screens which are designed for use as passive guards to enclose areas where Class 3B or Class 4 lasers are in use either to protect against accidental exposure to the laser beam or for long term blocking of laser radiation at lower power densities.
All Lasermet laser-blocking screens are CE marked and certified to BS EN IEC 60825-4 Safety of Laser Products Part 4: Laser Guards.
All of the screens are portable and can be used as simple temporary installations or can be used on a semi-permanent or permanent basis as required.
LaserLightScreen
Low-cost, floor-hugging, wheeled, certified laser blocking screen
The LaserLightScreen are designed to enclose an area where Class 3B or Class 4 lasers are used to protect against accidental exposure or for long term blocking of laser radiation at lower power densities.
The screens are CE marked to conform to EN 60825-4 using high quality materials and design. It can block all wavelengths – including high power lasers.
At just 5mm above the floor, these floor-hugging screens provide you with proper laser protection all the way up to 2m high. There is also a 2.5m high option.
PEL RATINGS
Irradiated Area | PEL (T3) 10s | PEL (T2) 100s |
4mm² | 150 MW/m² | 87 MW/m² |
2000mm² | 1.2 MW/m² | 0.7 MW/m² |
Standard Laser Blocking Screen
Made with Lasermet’s specially developed laser blocking material
Standard Laser Blocking Screens use the same specially designed laser blocking material used for laser blocking curtains and screens. The material is mounted on a black powder coated steel framework, supported on lockable castors.
The laser blocking material, which seals to the floor, is white on one side and black on the other side. It will operate as a blackout screen as well as a laser-blocking screen.
The material is fireproof. When irradiated with greater than 0.5 MW/m2 it will emit a non-hazardous smoke and may glow, thus providing a warning that a stray beam is present
Standard screens can be wheeled easily into position and then kept there by locking the castors. Multiple screens can be connected together using connecting pieces in a straight line or at an angle up to 90 degrees.
PEL RATINGS
Irradiated Area | PEL (T3) 10s | PEL (T2) 100s |
4mm² | 3.9 MW/m² | 2.2 MW/m² |
2000mm² | 0.62 MW/m² | 0.35 MW/m² |
Heavy-Duty Laser Blocking Screen
For multi-kilowatt lasers
These screens are designed to block all lasers, including high power, multi-kilowatt materials processing lasers.
The screens consist of a 50 mm thick sandwich of steel and a special lightweight laser-blocking material, with a white laminate finish on both sides. This is mounted on a powder-coated steel framework, with heavy-duty lockable castors.
The screens can be wheeled into position and then kept there by locking the castors. They can be used to form a complete enclosure or part thereof.
PEL RATINGS
Irradiated Area | PEL (T3) 10s | PEL (T2) 100s |
4mm² | 62 MW/m² | 35 MW/m² |
2000mm² | 3.1 MW/m² | 1.7 MW/m² |
Flatfoot Laser Blocking Screen
Designed to eliminate trip hazards
The lightweight Flatfoot Laser Blocking Screens are designed as a semi-permanent passive guard to enclose an area where Class 3B or Class 4 Lasers are in use, to protect against accidental exposure or for long term blocking of laser radiation at lower power densities.
They provide a cost effective and easily-installed, high quality professional solution to your laser blocking requirements.
The screens block all laser wavelengths up to high power lasers and are CE marked and certified.
Two people can install and move the screens into place to provide a rapid-build laser enclosure. Further screens can be attached to extend or change the modular enclosure, providing a flexible approach to installations, facilitating potential relocation or expansion.
The Flatfoot option eliminates trip hazard and is suitable for locations where wheels are not required.
PEL RATINGS

4mm² | 310 MW/m² | 170 MW/m² |
2000mm² | 1.8 MW/m² | 1.0 MW/m² |
